ITP - Certificate Ceremony and Science Club 2015
On November 19th, 2015 the Science Club hosted a combined event at the end of a colorful year filled with plenty training opportunities for our members. This evening was both the Kick-off & Closing Event of the International Teaching Professionals (ITP) program and the annual Elevator Pitch of the program Entrepreneurial Postgraduate Education / Science meets Market (EPE).
The first part of this ceremonious event was welcoming the new ITP participants and celebrating the successful program completion of the graduates of 2014/2015, hosted by the Spokesperson of the Potsdam Graduate School, Prof Dr. Florian Jeltsch. The graduates received (their) program certificates for their extraordinary commitment for teaching during their PhD phase. Prof. Dr. Ulrike Demske, the Vice-president for International Affairs of the University of Potsdam, honored the graduates’ dedication and qualification for academic teaching. Prof. Demske’s words of gratitude were followed by an inspiring talk on “What guides us when we teach?” by Dr. Björn Kiehne (Berliner Zentrum für Hochschuldidaktik, TU Berlin). His approach focuses on biographical resources for creating a constructive attitude towards teaching.
As a grand finale, one ITP graduate sent her virtual greetings from Sweden. Due to a short-term teaching visit, funded by the ERASMUS teacher mobility, she could not attend the ITP Closing Event in person. The ERASMUS teacher mobility allows program participants to broaden their experience by teaching in European partner institutions.
In the second part of the evening, the EPE program came to its entertaining finale: The EPE graduates performed their Elevator pitches live on stage. During this specific presentation method, business ideas are explained in a vivid way within 60 seconds, targeting to appeal the attention of the audience or even to convince stakeholders crucial for the further success of the business idea. The EPE graduates brilliantly pitched their business ideas, with Nicole Pastrik getting the most applause for her performance. Finally, Nadine Lux handed over the certificates for the participants’ successful completion of the EPE program, and transferred the coordination of the program to Ute Eggers, who will coordinate the EPE program from 2016 on.
The well-known cozy atmosphere of the Science Club invited all program participants and guests to a culinary get-together with ample room for further discussions and exchange.
